Graston Technique

The Graston Technique is an innovative, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to detect and effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, as well as maintain optimal range of motion.  It involves utilizing a handheld device to perform adjustments to spinal vertebrae and other body joints and muscles.  It is an alternative to traditional adjustments, as it eliminates twisting- or cracking-type maneuvers and provides a comfortable yet effective correction.  This technique is an ideal method that can be used on anyone, especially the young or the elderly.

The Graston Technique aims to effectively break down scar tissue and reduce inflammation that causes pain and restricted mobility.  It can comb over and "catch" on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies areas of restriction.  Chiropractors can then treat soft tissue lesions with the depth, pressure and specificity necessary to affect the condition at the site of the pain, as well as following the kinetic chain to find and treat the cause.

Other conditions treated include the following:

  • Acute and Chronic Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Cervical Sprain/Strain (Neck Pain)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Heel Spurs
  • Knee Pain (Runner's Knee)
  • Ligament Sprains
  • Medial Epicondylosis/itis (Golfer's Elbow)
  • Muscle Strain
  • Nerve Entrapments
  • Plantar Fascitis (Foot Pain)
  • Rotator Cuff Injuries (Shoulder Pain)
  • Scar Tissue (Including Surgical Scars)
  • Shin Splints
  • Sports Injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Trigger Finger
  • Women's Health (Post-Mastectomy and Caesarean Scarring)
